Profile: Aaron Myran

Aaron Myran is from Toronto, Ontario. Growing up he was disturbed by the smell of sewage in the river and the regular days of heavy smog in the summers of Toronto.

At Queen’s University in Ontario he majored in Biology. It was at University where Aaron discovered environmental activism. He was concerned by inaction on global warming and very quickly became involved. He was co-chair of the campus environmental group in his junior year, and by senior year took a part-time job as an organizer for the Sierra Youth Coalition, the student wing of the Sierra Club.

Aaron also participated in the powervote campaign, mobilizing youth voters to elect candidates that support clean energy legislation.

Aaron came to Green Corps because he wanted to hone his skills and become more effective at winning campaigns.

Right now, Aaron is in Albuquerque, NM working on the 1 Sky campaign to pass bold federal climate legislation. In his first month, Aaron has collected nearly 1,000 postcards to the New Mexico Senators and worked with over 30 community volunteers.

"Green Corps has been an incredible learning experience.  In just one year, I have gained important leadership skills, hands-on experience in the field, and a long-term vision for environmental change."
