Green Corps presents eight weeks of intensive classroom training conducted by representatives from a wide range of organizations and campaigns. Past trainers have included David Orr, Dolores Huerta, Lois Gibbs and other well-known leaders, as well as behind-the-scenes players who have contributed to the growth and victories of major environmental organizations over the past three decades.
The Green Corps program begins with our three-week Introductory Classroom Training each August in Boston, Mass. Through instruction and practice, our staff and trainers present an overview of the environmental movement; explore different organizing strategies, such as volunteer recruitment, media outreach, and coalition building; and teach a variety of tactical skills, such as petitioning and writing a press release. Four subsequent week-long classroom training sessions held throughout the year teach the organizers additional skills and hone their abilities to plan and implement effective campaigns.
